In 1989 several people in Wonthaggi, with an interest in woodturning and other woodcrafts got together and formed the Wonthaggi Woodcrafters.

Member interests include Scroll Sawing, Wood Carving, Pyrography, Basic Carpentry/Cabinet Making and Woodturning.

Club Objectives
- To promote fellowship among club members.
- To promote interest in the skills of woodcraft.
- To conduct demonstrations and displays to interest the public in woodcraft.
- To liaise with other woodworking clubs and attend seminars and wood shows to increase the knowledge of individual members.
- To provide an equipped workshop where members can receive tuition and practice.

New members, both male and female, are welcome. Our current membership is about sixty including six female members.
Facilities
The Wonthaggi Woodcrafters have a woodturning workshop with five lathes of various sizes and capabilities. We also have have a second woodworking workshop containing workbench, tablesaw, bandsaw and various other pieces of woodworking equipment.
Our workshops are in constant use with regular weekly activities.
